HI, I´M STEINGRIMUR DUI
PRODUCER/DIRECTOR/ARTIST
I´ve worked as an independent director/producer on countless shows from music video shows and documentaries to news magazine programs as a key emplyee. My TV clients include all the major TV channels in Iceland and I am a pioneer in extreme sports broadcasting in Iceland.
I am a professional producer/director. I have directed, and produced many documentaries and two full feature documentaries. I have produced TV series and been part of big daily TV shows as a producer/director. Being a self shooting director and an experienced producer is a valuable asset in todays broadcasting business. DREAMDOC is an art project that I am currently working on. It is work with my dreams presented as an artpiece in the form of a text on an image.
After graduating from the London Film School I worked in Icelandic television as a producer and also a supervisor. I started working for The Icelandic Broadcast TV (RUV) the same year with an art documentary about artists Daníel Þ. Magnússon and Hrafnkell Sigurðsson. Soon I ran a radio show on Channel 2 (Ras 2) called Engisprettan (Grasshopper) and around the same time I started working on the music-video show Flauel (Velvet) for RUV and other related televison work. Soon after that I started working as director/producer for Dagsljós (Daylight) a news magazine show on RUV. After that I went around Iceland, the Faroe Islands and Greenland and shot a music documentary called Frostpop. The following year I shot the documentary film Rúnturinn , (produced by Oscar nominee Friðrik Þór Friðriksson). In 1999-2000 I created along with snow boarding pioneer Runar Omarsson, the first adrenaline sports show in Icelandic history, Adrenalín a weekly show that became a legendary TV show. In 2001-2005 I ran my own advertisement agency called IDIOT. I worked on commercials for IDIOT in addition to producing and premiering the feature film Arne in America, a sports documentary and I directed/produced the documentary Degenerated Art (Úrkynjuð List) on a strange and bizarre incident in Icelandic art history.
From 2006 to 2007 I worked independently and edited and did the full post production of the second season of Silvia Night (Silvía Nótt). In 2007 I joined Kastljósið (Spotlight), a news magazine show) as a director/producer . In 2010 I started studying at Bifröst University and graduated in February 2013, after that I worked as a part-time lecturer in MA studies at the University of Iceland and at the Icelandic Film School as well as working on regular promotional material for the Iceland Innovation Center. In 2014 and 2015 I participated in the project ART365, a calendar with works by Icelandic artists. In 2015 I taught master studies at the University of Iceland and finished editing Rúnturinn which had been shot in 1999, (it had laid dormant for several years). In 2016 we premiered Rúnturinn at the Skjaldborg Film Festival and at Bíó Paradís later same year. In 2017-2018 I lectured at the University of Iceland and worked for RUV. In the years 2019-2020 I still lectured in MA studies at the University of Iceland and directed/produced the comedy show Berglind "Sovereignty" Festival for RÚV. In 2021-2024 I became the chairman of the Icelandic filmmakers association (Félag kvikmyndagerðarmanna), worked for Vodafone/Syn and made a promotional video with the world famous skydiver Jeff Provenzano. I worked with Sara Bjornsdottir, artist in Reykjavik, on her 15 minutes of fame, mini documentaries and made my art serie Dreamdoc (Draumadoc), an approach to document my dreams as in an observational film which premiered on facebook recently.
